Eurozone to stem debt crisis

MADRID - EUROZONE finance ministers gathered on Friday to seek ways to halt a government debt crisis as Greece asks the European Union and the International Monetary Fund to step up work on a potential multibillion bailout.

The Greek government said on Thursday it would hold 'systematic negotiations' on the standby loan package with other members of Europe's currency union at the two-day meeting in Madrid.

Probe into Sony patent claim

TOKYO - A US trade agency has launched a probe into Sony Corp's claims that several companies, including two major computer monitor makers in Hong Kong and Taiwan, infringed on its patents for display devices.

The US International Trade Commission will begin an investigation based on a complaint filed by Sony last month against Hong Kong-based TPV Technology Ltd and Taiwan's Innolux Display Corp, a USITC statement dated on Thursday said.
